They’re many forms of arthritis, with the two most common ones being osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Arthritis is the swelling and tenderness of one or more of your joints. Arthritis is inflammation of one or more joints that causes pain and stiffness. In many cases that pain and stiffness can worsen with age.

The most common symptoms of arthritis are:

  • Swelling
  • Stiffness
  • Pain
  • Redness
  • Decreased Range of Motion

 Arthritis

Difference Between Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid Arthritis is an auto immune disease that attacks the lining of the joint capsule. The lining becomes swollen and inflamed. Developing rheumatoid arthritis can end up destroying cartilage and bone within the joint. Osteoarthritis which is far more common, happens from wear and tear, or physical damage. Cartilage is there to cushion the end of bones, but enough damage can result in bone grinding on bone. Although in many cases this develops over years, it can also happen immediately from an injury sustained.

Your Tampa Chiropractors Treatment Plan for Arthritis

Your Chiropractor near USF will first ask the follow questions:

  • Ask how bad on a scale of 1-10 the pain is that day, at its worst, and at its best.
  • Find out if you know how the pain began?
  • Ask if you have had any prior surgeries, and to list all current medications that you’re taking.
  • Want to know if anything you have tried to relieve the pain has helped.
  • Will want to know if there’s anything that aggravates your pain.

After extensively going through your patient questionnaire and examining your body, Dr. Cobb will proceed to spend 20-25 minutes performing connective tissue release. For arthritis, your Tampa Chiropractor can treat just about anywhere on the body, depending on where your arthritis is located.

After your Connective Tissue Release therapy, if your Tampa Chiropractor deems you fit for an adjustment, he will do exactly that. However, if Dr. Cobb feels that an adjustment could do more harm than good based on the state your body is in, then he will wait until he feels that you are okay to be adjusted.

If you are dealing with arthritis in any way, your Chiropractor near USF, Dr. Cobb, and his staff are here for you Monday, Wednesday, Thursday (9:00-12:00 & 1:30-7:00) and Tuesday and Friday (9:00-1:00).
