Here at Cobb Rehab and Wellness we treat patients that are in auto accidents daily. Back pain/injuries from auto accidents are one of the top three injuries we see and treat. What might seem like a small accident can still cause a back injury due to the fact that the human body isn’t designed to take the impact of a car accident. Many people also find that even what many would deem a minor back injury, can have a serious impact on one’s daily life.
As we’ve found over the years, many people won’t come and see us for sometimes days, and in certain cases a week after their accident. This is due to the fact a patient either won’t feel the pain right away, or they assume the immediate pain will subside. What many will find after time is that their pain won’t subside, or can get worse. This is why it is crucial to come and start treatment immediately following an accident to help minimize the pain and to fix whatever issues you have before they become too overwhelming.
Your Tampa Chiropractors Auto Accident Treatment Plan for Back Pain
The biggest difference between an auto patient and everyone else, is that more often than the average patient, auto accident patients are dealing with multiple injuries. Because of this, it can require more frequent treatment than normal in the beginning to address multiple issue.
Once your appointment is set, we require that you fill out our entire auto patient form. This can be downloaded in our patient center. If you are unable to download it, we ask that you are 45 minutes prior to your appointment to fill it out. This paperwork will give in detail not just what type of pain you are dealing with, but also what occurred in the accident. Between this information as well as the initial exam, will determine Dr. Cobb’s plan for treatment.
After going through your questionnaire and examining your body, your Tampa Chiropractor Dr. Cobb will usually spend 20-25 minutes performing connective tissue release. However, in extreme cases he may spend upwards of 45-50 minutes on a patient. For pain in the back almost anywhere in the body can be treated, from your legs all the way to your head. Since the back is such a large part of the body, and due to the fact that your pain could be in a multitude of places on the back creates many different treatment plans that Dr. Cobb might implement. Based on what the doctor sees in your initial examination and paperwork will determine where he works and for how long.
Your Chiropractor near USF will first ask the follow questions:
- Ask how bad on a scale of 1-10 the pain is that day, at its worst, and at its best.
- Find out if you know how the pain began?
- Ask if you have had any prior surgeries, and to list all current medications that you’re taking.
- Will want to know if anything you have tried to relieve the pain has helped.
- Will want to know if there’s anything that aggravates your pain.
After your Connective Tissue Release therapy, if your Tampa Chiropractor deems you fit for an adjustment, he will do exactly that. However, if Dr. Cobb feels that an adjustment could do more harm than good based on the state your body is in, then he will wait until he feels that you are okay to be adjusted.
