Auto Accident Neck Injuries

Neck injuries from an auto accident are also one of the three most common injuries we see. Many neck injuries are due to whiplash which is sudden back-and-forth motion that affects the cervical ligament at the base of the neck.

In certain instances, it is possible to sustain more than one injury to the neck after a car accident. A list of the most frequent neck injuries we see are:

  • Soft Tissue Damage
  • Lacerations and Abrasions
  • Whiplash
  • Muscle Spasms
  • Paresthesia
  • Vocal chord damage

Your Tampa Chiropractors Auto Accident Treatment Plan for Neck Pain

The biggest difference between an auto patient and everyone else, is that more than often than the average patients, auto accident patients are dealing with multiple injuries. Because of this, it can require more frequent treatment than normal in the beginning to address multiple issue.

Once your appointment is set, we require that you fill out our entire auto patient form. This can be downloaded in our patient center. If you are unable to download it, we ask that you are 45 minutes prior to your appointment to fill it out. This paperwork will give in detail not just what type of pain you are dealing with, but also what occurred in the accident. Between this information as well as the initial exam, will determine Dr. Cobb’s plan for treatment.

Your Chiropractor near USF will first ask the follow questions:

  • Ask how bad on a scale of 1-10 the pain is that day, at its worst, and at its best.
  • Find out if you know how the pain began?
  • Ask if you have had any prior surgeries, and to list all current medications that you’re taking.
  • Will want to know if anything you have tried to relieve the pain has helped.
  • Will want to know if there’s anything that aggravates your pain.

After going through your questionnaire and examining your body, Dr. Cobb will proceed to spend 20-25 minutes performing connective tissue release. For a neck pain, your Tampa Chiropractor will focus on treating your head, neck, back and shoulders. Every patient and pain is different. Based on what the doctor sees, as well as what your background information is, will determine where he works and for how long.

After your Connective Tissue Release therapy, if your Tampa Chiropractor deems you fit for an adjustment, he will do exactly that. However, if Dr. Cobb feels that an adjustment could do more harm than good based on the state your body is in, then he will wait until he feels that you are okay to be adjusted.

If you are dealing with auto accident neck pain, your Chiropractor near USF Dr. Cobb, and his staff are here for you Monday, Wednesday, Thursday (9:00-12:00 & 1:30-7:00) and Tuesday and Friday (9:00-1:00).
