Headaches from auto accidents are the condition we see most in patients following an auto accident. In Dr. Cobb’s time treating patients, he sees that almost everyone has them following their accident. Not all headaches are the same, and some are far worse than other, but he believes almost 90% of patients will deal with headaches following their auto accident.
Some people will feel headaches immediately following their accident due to the impact and trauma their body is put through. This isn’t always the case for everyone though. In many cases patients headaches may begin days following their accident once the adrenaline has worn off.
It is also worth mentioning that even though some headaches will go away with time and treatment, the symptoms of headaches can be more serious than just a headache. In the worst cases you could be dealing with a concussion or serious brain injury. Dr. Cobb will make sure to check on your progress with your headaches every visit to see if you are seeing the necessary improvement.
Your Tampa Chiropractors Auto Accident Treatment Plan for Headaches
The biggest difference between an auto patient and everyone else, is that more than often than the average patients, auto accident patients are dealing with multiple injuries. Because of this, it can require more frequent treatment than normal in the beginning to address multiple issue.
Once your appointment is set, we require that you fill out our entire auto patient form. This can be downloaded in our patient center. If you are unable to download your paperwork, we ask that you are 45 minutes prior to your appointment to fill it out. This paperwork will give in detail not just what type of pain you are dealing with, but also what occurred in the accident. Between this information as well as the initial exam, will determine Dr. Cobb’s plan for treatment.
Your Chiropractor near USF will first ask the follow questions:
- Ask how bad on a scale of 1-10 the pain is that day, at its worst, and at its best.
- Find out if you know how the pain began?
- Ask if you have had any prior surgeries, and to list all current medications that you’re taking.
- Will want to know if anything you have tried to relieve the pain has helped.
- Will want to know if there’s anything that aggravates your pain.
After going through your questionnaire and examining your body, Dr. Cobb will proceed to spend 20-25 minutes performing connective tissue release. For a headaches, your Tampa Chiropractor will focus on treating your head, neck, back and shoulders. Every patient and pain is different. Based on what the doctor sees, as well as what your background information is, will determine where he works and for how long.
After your Connective Tissue Release therapy, if your Tampa Chiropractor deems you fit for an adjustment, he will do exactly that. However, if Dr. Cobb feels that an adjustment could do more harm than good based on the state your body is in, then he will wait until he feels that you are okay to be adjusted.
